norwegian duo ost & kjex make a welcomed return to crosstown rebels with a heady club cover of princes dirty mind, with a stella remix by seven davis jr. on the flip. after label boss damian lazarus asked why they hadnt sent any new music lately, talented pair ost & kjex made it their mission to make a new release for crosstown after 8 years. delivering the goods, dirty mind is a minimalistic bomb with pulsating beats and soaring synths that lead you deep into the night. ost & kjex are responsible for the huge crosstown releases how not to be a biscuit and anthem summertime with jamie jones. the duo has been releasing music for over a decade with two albums under their belt and notable releases on solomun�s diynamic amongst others. best known for his releases on classic and ninja tune, seven davis jr. is s huge prince fan and is a fitting remixer for this cover, he delivers a sleazy take on the original with a killer bassline.

onboard having come up with an annual-ish drop of 12inches since 2010, even brenden aka chmmr set aside the spring of 2016 to challenge himself to a new format: a full-length album. a true nostalgic, he uses compass point-era and early italo sounds for inspiration and attempts to simulate these styles. this makes for a melodic, chuggy and graphic album that belongs a little more in the living room than on the dance floor. with 10 tracks of dusty rhythms and the honest, naive and spacious themes that is brendens signature, its a record designed to signal that todays technological future may not be as different as yesterdays. features a nice-looking cover painting drawn by the late harold cohens aaron program - automation at its finest. hidden behind his chmmr moniker is even brenden, whose summery debut found its way into the world via norwegian psych-disco label luna flicks in 2010. the record became somewhat of a soughtafter item and after making pit stops at relish, dødpop and untz untz records, he landed on prins thomas full pupp in 2014 and have stayed put ever since, all the while enjoying a steady habit of record jocking and the occasional keyboard duty in telephones now-defunct live band. even resides in oslo makes odd waves without vowels.

�truth� is the debut ep from the earlham mystics, the new monikor of acclaimed artist luke abbott. born from a desire to break some of his own rules, earlham mystics is luke abbott hopping onto an alternate timeline for his career, both looking back to basics and moving in exciting new directions. taking its roots from a time before 2014�s �wysing forest� moved him into a more symphonic, freeform realm and carrying those roots into the now. �truth� ep is luke at his most immediate, offering up his most accessible work since previous releases on notown such as �modern driveway� and �object is a navigator�.

fuse bosses enzo siragusa and seb zito have been invited by the highly respected rawax to bring a taste of their beloved london rave culture roots to the labels first release of 2017. since their launch in 2011, rawax�s catalogue has beamed with nothing less than the finest, and enzo and seb are a welcomed addition to their already colourful and diverse roster. barac, boo williams, fred p, paul johnson, ricardo villalobos, ron trent and unbroken dub are just a small portion of an incredible list of artists that have released via the labels original monarch and many offshoots thus far. with �woonie trax� enzo and seb perfectly resurrect the sounds of early uk rave culture into the present by digging out the early gems of their record boxes as inspiration. �barring the kicks, i think almost everything came from sampling old garage, hardcore and jungle records from the 90 s. for those in the know, the clues are in the names of the tracks�. � enzo siragusa whilst �shades of riddim, �lil ley�, and �blue notes� all lend themselves to the early uk sound, each track has its own individual quirk making the ep a diverse representation of the days enzo and seb fell in love with rave.

abstaxion and kasper bjørke return for their second collaboration on dc salas and abstraxions biologic records imprint. matin + nuit is a 3-track ep out in april. biologic records aim to explore the relationship between organic and analogue, natural and urban. this idea of polarity is addressed here through the themes of morning and night. matin is a ten-minute journey through a glistening landscape. celestial arpeggios and subtle dissonances are grounded by a hypnotic bassline and restrained percussion. ivre (drunk) takes an emotive turn. disorienting acid bass winds its way through mournful harmonies and overcast melodies, held together by a spirited rhythmic pattern. �nuit�, naturally, progresses into darker territory. there are familiar elements of disco, but they�ve been mangled to create something far more twisted. drums take the lead, punctuated by assertive bass stabs and ominous chords that howl through cavernous acoustics. matin + nuit explores seemingly familiar themes without the use of cliché, employing a diverse range of sound manipulation techniques to paint vivid imagery.

based in bath, uk and born out of a love for drinking tea and dusty rhythms. mint tea is a platform that searches for up and coming talent within an emerging scene. in this blend, a various artists release with producers from four different countries curated into the perfect accompaniment for late nights or early mornings. with tracks from moda, raär, akasha system and james henry the release combines a beautiful balance of influences from ambient, lo-fi, techno and house.

afrika bambaataa, rapper, producer, dj from the south bronx, new york. afrika bambaataa is one of the originators of breakbeat djing and is respectfully known as the godfather of zulu nation and amen ra of hip hop culture. in 2007 has been nominated for induction into the rock hall of fame and in 2008 he has been honored by the bronx museum of arts. afrika bambaataa�s long career is pointed by many hits and masterpieces such as reckless, unity, just get up and dance and pupunanny. countless collaborations with artists such as ub40, james brown, boy george, leftfield just to name few of them. afrika bambaataa has recorded with many labels from tommy boy to capitol records and profile but it is with the italian label dfc (expanded music) that he has releases most of his recordings. bring it up is the new release on dfc label produced by dj/producer paul carpenter. this release includes three versions in big room/edm style along with a mega-mix and a full acapella collection of all previous recordings released by bambaataa on dfc label. two lyrics videos come to support the release.

the remixed tracks from ascetic�s second album �everything is becoming� are a collision between industrial techno, ebm influenced bass lines, doom and dark ambient. four berlin based artists: ancient methods, phase fatale, unhuman & luna violenta offer their take on the two opening tracks �utterings� and �exegesis� from the album. roared vocals, guitar both jagged, creepy and ambient, live drums and samples are all melted down and reformed into at times recognizable and at times wholly alien compositions, ancient methods, phase fatale and unhuman offer different approaches to techno punishment while luna�s interpretation is a cacophonous build that explodes into sonic abstraction. this ep is a perfect example of what berlin does so well, where genres that share aesthetic values feedback, overlap and inspire.

12inch sleeve designed and hand screen printed by alex from cassegrain. arcing seas is back with arcs-03, a unique ep of selected tracks from the first two releases, remixed by the mover, peder mannerfelt and shifted. first up, rave and techno legend the mover presents his first new material since 2009. after using the slogan �see you in 2017&#8243,,,, for years before, this marks the start his return. he turns trappist into a hard hitting electro workout using original parts that explode and punish the senses. peder mannerfelt introduces the b-side with his take on skull gun. broken beats and exciting percus-sion sit atop deep kicks, disorientating quick fire samples and rapid snares, showing how versatile and on-point he is. finally, shifted is called into action with a signature deep-sonic soundscape. rumbling kicks and high frequency textures occupy the sound field, alongside reverberating samples from vultures, making it his own. label info: arcing seas is an anagram of cassegrain. it started out as a secret alias, releasing a couple eps on our circula sound. the secret was less well kept after the duo appeared at berghain under this name.

for the labels ninth release, deep a & biris black crow records revisits one that helped establish the labels direction back in the imprints first year. bcr003, insular realms by fellow israeli producer hakimonu, was praised by many including resident advisor, who said the ep proved his off-kilter take on techno and house is as vibrant and inviting as ever. now in 2017, deepa & biri have invited mind against, luigi tozzi and echologist (aka dub techno veteran brendon moeller) to all rework the original version of insular realms for 2017. first up are life & death�s mind against, with one of the fognini brothers most direct techno productions yet, with a mid-track moment of calm before the intensity resumes. luigi tozzi, the rome-based producer who has had previous outings on dynamic reflection and dino sabatinis outis music, contributes the second remix. taking the lead from the originals more ethereal moments, his version is dreamy & almost wistful as it propels along its shaking rhythm. the b-side offers two takes from brendon moeller in his echologist guise, with a dub mix that twists the original into an acid-inflected track that slowly ratchets up the tension over its seven minutes, while the reshape breaks things down into a churning rhythm peppered with flashes f off kilter sonic details.

perm is one of leipzig s most busy producers and performers of electronic music. after releases on shtum, mana all nite, dur, kann and nachtdigital in recent years, holger is more than happy to welcome him with a four-tracker that o ers a deep insight into his vision of timeless techno: airy and yet rmly grounded, with a foggy atmosphere that permeates a vast space of sound. it is trippy and hypnotic but also very bodily and highly energetic. with these qualities it ts very nicely with holger 11 (polo) and 12 (barnt) a perfect closer for this mini triplet series, a concept that has become sort of a trademark for the label.

twr72 is back with a full new story starring lucid as the lead. lucid dropped out of space on a world called planet earth. it�s luminous and vivid appearance were instantly clear. at first lucid was a bit reserved but during it�s first steps it opened up and showed some colorful emotions and hints of it�s personality. with detailed patterns of communication lucid tried to find a way through this new world. erudite, which was already for a more prolonged time on planet earth, picked up the incomprehensible code from lucid and reproduced it into a solid and clever message. erudite was keen enough to think of a way to communicate back with lucid as it noticed lucid needed help. but it needed someone else to bring the message to lucid. so erudite asked help from colloquial who could easily transcript the message back to lucid. colloquial used different types of frequencies to connect to lucid, but it wasn�t that easy. lucid already travelled further and was hard to reach. therefor colloquial tried to use heavier elements to make a more solid composition. unfortunately not only positive things arrived from space. aporia was a rather negative influence which disturbed the link between colloquial and lucid. aporia tried to force the communication by continuously changing the elements of the message. but it wasn�t all that bad, because at the end aporia brought the two important elements of the message together.

soma are proud to present the debut album from rebekah as she unleashes the incredible �fear paralysis�. rebekah has consistently been one of the most ferocious and exciting techno artists for some time and is currently riding high within the soma ranks after debuting on the label back in 2015 with the audacious �confined heart ep�. this album has certainly been a labour of love for rebekah as uncertain times, musically, lead her to refocusing all her time and energy into developing her sound with the aim of creating a cleaner rhetoric than she was generally known for. the culmination of this process has found rebekah returning to a simpler time where elements from the depths are explored thoroughly within �fear paralysis�.

after starting out with eps showcasing tracks by various artists, invite�s choice is back with a 3 track ep by drafted.
the ep is opened by detached with it�s dominating, repeating tom/percussive low-end sound. the frequential spectrum is filled up by other percussive elements and reverb-filled effects, which give the track a spacious feel. oxidian starts out in your face with it�s droning and repetitive synth. the track evolves into an abstract apogee with intense synthesis before it breaks down again, allowing for a smooth mix to be made. sphere closes down this 3-track ep on the b-side and does so with lots of fast changing hi-hat and ride patterns and one sharp sounding synthesizer, which makes it a perfect b-side closing track. once again a great showcase of sustainable modern day electronic music by invite�s choice!

new years deal - let recordings boss jp enfant returns to his own label for a third solo ep. the dutchman, who is a resident at de school in amsterdam, mixes up techno, breakbeat, ambient, dub and house into his own long and all consuming tracks, and on his latest ep he does that once more. spacious and elastic grooves aimed at the body and the floor. once again, this versatile and robust offering from jp enfant is another standout release on the young label

one of two very limited samplers of the datafunk 2.0 project. due to the project being considerably delayed a couple of artists pulled their tracks so abstract forms has decided to split the remainder of the project into two 12- samplers instead. 150 copies of each.

now in its second decade, with a steady stream of the most forward thinking and cutting edge techno productions, drumcode has one of the biggest selections of releases from industry heavy hitters, whilst not forgetting its future by bringing the newest talented producers into the limelight, where layton giordani is now a name firmly within that line up. the young new york based producer first had recognition back in 2014, and his debut release came via drumcode with his track rivington on the a-sides vol5 compilation in 2016. full force into 2017, drumcode has announced the release of layton s debut album with where it begins consisting of 12 original tracks, the album packs a punch when it comes to no-nonsense techno. successfully weaving relentless drums and catchy vocal hooks into a selection of thick, brooding, atmospheric tracks.

baby ford s minimal minded label is back in action with some psyched-out goodness from alex celler. the long-serving greek producer has many strings to his bow, but this release finds him tapping into his foundational sound as a steady ticking groove carries a richly produced bed of chimes and tones for the deepest moments in the dance. where -feudade- is a lilting, soothing trip, -vis a vis- heads into a more mysterious headspace peppered with nagging rhythmic trysts, crafty licks and fulsome bass to get the synapses popping. it s exactly how stripped down house music should be done, inventive to the last and yet utterly danceable.

subb-an and adam shelton may be plenty busy with their own endeavours, but they still know how to bring it home to roost on their own one records. this time around they ve both turned to the same vocalist, isis salam, to deliver some insistent instruction atop their lean and mean productions. subb-an s -self control- is a cool and deadly workout that places the emphasis on the bass and places salam s classic speech at the front of the mix. shelton gets into a more jacking frame of mind on -only now-, whipping up a raw chicago flavour to devastating effect.

this 4-tracker from spanish affkt might quite simply be his best release to date. i have always admired his different and quirky productions and as the followers will know we have released tracks with affkt before.this time me and marc (aka affkt) went deep into a&r ing the release to make sure all tracks reached their full potential. tracks have been added and removed from the release over time. the tracks have been re-arranged, adjusted, revisited over a period of 9 months time (yes thats how much time we spent carefully putting this release together and making sure it was perfect). i am really proud of what marc acomplished with this release on noir music. all 4 tracks work really well in the clubs and they each have a very strong affkt signature which i wont bother describing in detail by words but rather have you listen to these amazing squared pieces.

robin de wolf delivered us three solid tracks under his new alter ego robert d . while un ni yo is a house track with a wavy sound and affective synths, the second a-sided track dommel is a banger that begins with a smooth intro that changes over into hard kicks and raw bass chords. on the b-side, you can find a more melancholic uptempo track that goes by the name of white s wisdom. interstellar funk tops it all off with a remix of un ni yo that combines the wavy sound of the original with synth-heavy electronics. an absolutly killer ep!

the third release of the vinyl only label another earth is upon us and its all about techno. esther duijn combines 2 acts together in a split ep series which compliment each others sound. for this release esther selected two notorious european techno producers she adores, opuswerk and lee holman. on the a side opuswerk delivers 2 deep driving techno tracks. rf thruster basically expands from beginning to end. this constant propulsion has a deep impact on any dance floor. he drew inspiration from jeff mills and planetary assault systems for this particular track. emdrive starts with an atmospheric intro and morphs into one epic build up that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. on the flip side lee holman bangs 2 deep and firm techno grooves like there is no tomorrow. while adaptive optics is rough on the edges it does pay attention to small details which make the track very dynamic. absorption lines puts the emphasis on a warmer atmosphere. with this track you can transform anything into a pulsating hot mass, according to esther

trusme gets the remix treatment from answer code request, ben sims & pangaea. this is the first of two eps featuring remixes of tracks from the trusme planet 4 album. answer code request takes our future into new territory with two outstanding mixes. remix 1 moves things to a much more sinister & foreboding place. tightening the feel & tension of the original with all the hallmarks of classic berlin techno. remix 2 winds up & coils the track into a searing workout of early 90s hardcore breakbeat. ben sims takes control of ring round heart, pushing the tempo & creating a whole new urgency in the track. this is proper no nonsense heads down business & tight as you like. the mix builds excellently well & manages to produce an epic amount of feel and emotion, dropping in & out of the groove with a sneaky breakbeat & vocal dubs. pangaea tackles one of the albums more esoteric tracks in the unexplained. he manages to work a wonderfully intriguing steppers beat which drops from nowhere after the highly beguiling metronomic extended opening. the tracks are getting plenty of play & plaudits from likes of ben ufo, dj deep, bicep & anthony parasole.

distinctive tenor singer linval thompson honed his singing craft in his formative years, growing in the west kingston ghetto of three mile, where he was associated with dennis brown, johnnie clarke and al campbell. a subsequent move to new york brought him into expatriate act hugh hendricks and the buccaneers, with his debut recording, �no other woman,� being made circa early 1974 at patrick alley�s art craft studio. a series of other singles followed from his new york sojourn, but the return to jamaica in 1974 led to more noteworthy singles for stamma hobson, phil pratt and lee �scratch� perry, with �jah jah redder than red� and �girl you�ve got to run,� both cut at the black ark for pratt, being the most successful. yet, it was all but a prelude to the breakthrough success he would finally achieve upon teaming up with bunny lee for �don�t cut off your dreadlocks,� one of the most popular releases of 1975, a debut album of the same name, issued by third world in 1976, contained some of his most outstanding material, including the devotional �jah jah the conqueror� and �long long dreadlocks,� the romance thriller �black princess lady� and the anti-rude boy opus, �cool down your temper.�

one of the very first artists to begin recording in jamaica, derrick morgan is beloved as a ska icon and a pioneer of the �skinhead reggae� style. blessed with a rich, deep tenor, which with he belts out his clever and often humorous lyrics, morgan became known on the kingston music scene through vere johns� regular talent contests, and enjoyed a lengthy run of hits during the 1960s for producers such as simeon smith, duke reid and clement �sir coxsone� dodd (among others), cultivating a popular vinyl feud with prince buster after being brought into leslie kong�s camp by the young jimmy cliff. morgan moved to england during the late 1960s to capitalise on the skinhead reggae craze, but was back in jamaica from the early 1970s, and since bunny lee was his brother-in-law, the two have always maintained a close working relationship. people decision, voiced at king tubby�s studio for lee and released by third world in 1977, sees morgan in politicised roots reggae mode on songs like �let�s build a better jamaica,� the symbolic racetrack drama �racing at ballistic park,� and the title track, which all boosted the socialist policies of the ruling people�s national party, �natty dread forward out of babylon� updates the �tougher than tough� saga, and there�s a slew of rude tunes when you flip the disc, including �my dickie,� �rough grinder� and �ride manny fanny.�

in early 1978, vincent ahehehinnou left the orchestre poly-rythmo de cotonou without explanation. he had been one of their principal vocalist since 1968 and had helped transform them from a hard-charging nightclubband into a musical powerhouse and africa-wide sensation. by the end of 1977, after an explosive performance at the pan-african arts and culture festival (festac77) in lagos, the band had reached the very pinnacle of their success.
for nearly forty years, the reasons behind vincent�s sudden departure have remained a mystery. until now. in an interview included with analog africa�s new reissue of best woman � vincent�s first post-poly-rythmo album, which has been out-of-print for close to four decades and nearly impossible to find outside west africa � the great singer finally breaks his silence. he didn�t leave � he was pushed.

after releasing a string of quality eps for the likes of charlois, doppellschall and permanent vacation, amsterdam based artist dollkraut (pascal pinkert) confirmed in 2014 with his debut album schimanskis black lullabies on brandt brauer fricks imprint the gym. the dutch producers back with his sophomore lp due february 24th 2017 on dischi autunno new label founded by jennifer cardini and noura labbani. holy ghost people sees dollkraut delve deeper into his recognizable lo-fi and organic sound, inspired by old movie soundtracks, creating gritty atmospheres mixed with the purest of melodies. album opens with instant hit bonnie said, where pascals vocals magically merge with the darkest of bass lines. valium continues the journey, increasing the tempo but confirming the feeling of being in a lost sci-fi movie soundtrack. on oblivian, the rhythm slows down again, allowing us to dive even more in this twisted yet candid universe.

much may have changed over a two-decade period, but drumcode s commitment to releasing the scene s most cutting-edge and refined techno remains resolute. 2016 saw releases from heavy hitters such as adam beyer, alan fitzpatrick, dense & pika, sam paganini, joseph capriati and waff, as well as a much coveted moby remix package. the label pushes forwards again in 2017, bringing fail-safe, club-ready music to the techno community. after appearing on a-sides volume 4 at the start of 2016, ilario alicante now makes his full debut on the label. he has quickly established himself as a key player amongst a new crop of techno artists and truly is one of the brightest stars in the game. his skills behind the decks have seen him tour the globe with cocoon, as well as appear at the likes of elrow, lovefest and we are fstvl. opening with times , the ep gets off to a flying start as the track rages straight into top gear, rolling through 6 minutes of pure power. this is a peak time tool that is set to be heard across dance floors worldwide this year. �awakened you may have heard from adam beyer s sets of late, a firm favourite which gets his much sought after seal of approval. rampant syths and mesmerizing vocal hooks all make it one hell of a journey. sense is a more industrial affair, chunky basslines take your hand through the track as it charges on. it s that classic deep ilario alicante sound we all know and love. the ep finishes off on apogeo , with its hypnotic siren tones and acute percussion. one thing is for sure, ilario alicante is in a league of his own.

since 2015, james welshs contribution to phantasy as kamera has delivered a series of releases shrouded in mystery, injected with the personal energy of both a hardcore and club heritage. two eps, arc and ventoux, set a distinct tone, with the latter complimented by head-turning remixes from artists such as george fitzgerald, throwing snow, truncate and yaleesa hall. now, the key phantasy artist emerges from the shadows under his own name, in order to continue his uncompromising musical journey. returning with a new, two-track ep, standing/slip captures the finely tuned tension and euphoric release of welshs sound in arguably its strongest form to date, showcasing not only the dancefloor mettle firmly established under his prior alias, but a new sense of wistfulness that coaxes his typically outstanding machine work into altogether more reflective territory. standing throws listeners headlong into welshs formerly anonymous industrial complex, generating a churning, relentless rhythm offset with a dry female vocal that recalls the sardonic stance of vintage electroclash. following this, slip is an initially unexpectedly spectral diversion, transmitting a curious synth line into space, and receiving a choral, sombre frequency in return. without losing its emotive qualities, the track succumbs to a hailstorm of welsh�s sharp, potent drums, before collapsing in understated catharsis.

we at finale sessions are excited to have mor elians added to the finale sessions family . mor is one of the younger generation artists that we have been keeping our eye on for sometime now. hailing from tel aviv and now living in los angeles and berlin and now travelling the world bringing her style of forward thinking house and techno so lets get with the music and we start with the track the orionids one of my favorites of the ep with its bouncing drums and the industrial flexing pads and the filtering synth s that give it the deepness for days. then we move to the second track light pollution another proper deep rendering if i may add and those high hats that just move the track into the proper scenic vibe, very minimal but to the point with the pads just poking its head out to go forth with the flow of the vocal. last but not least we have echopark-this track closes out the ep with its very bouncy acid sounds and it s minimalistic drum patterns makes for a very melodic sound. we at finale sessions want to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts and we love you very much

patrick vanos next installment on mos ferry takes you on a journey. industrealized ep is an adventure ride between techno and house with side trips into minimal or psychodelic areas. after his tape jam ep and the following remixes patrick did not sit back complacently. he mixed and compiled selected vibes, vol.5, was part of our mos ferry takeover boiler room in berlin and not to mention the long nights he spent in the studio for this release. the result is quality tunes right to the point.
